Over €30 Million in Funding to Help Irish Businesses Go Green

Irish businesses continue to face rising energy costs, but there has never been more support available to make the switch to clean technologies. In 2025, more than €30 million in government-backed funding is open to the commercial sector, helping companies invest in solar, building upgrades, and energy efficiency measures without putting a strain on cashflow.

Why now?

Ireland’s Climate Action Plan sets out an ambitious target: a 51% cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. To achieve this, the government has expanded its financial support programmes, making sustainability investments more attractive than ever.

Through the SEAI’s Micro-generation Support Scheme, non-domestic solar PV grants now cover systems from 7 kWp right up to 1,000 kWp, with funding ranging from €2,700 to €162,600 depending on project size. This level of support means payback times for solar are dramatically shorter, even in a high-interest environment. Alongside this, the Support Scheme for Energy Audits offers a €2,000 voucher to cover the full cost of a professional energy audit, ensuring businesses can identify the right upgrades before committing to investment.

Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs) are also playing their part by funding up to 75% of the cost of recommended energy-saving equipment, with grants between €750 and €10,000. For larger projects, Enterprise Ireland’s Green Transition Fund provides a suite of supports ranging from €1,800 Climate Action vouchers to €1 million for major decarbonisation initiatives.

Getting started

With so many schemes available, the most effective way to begin is with an energy audit. In most cases, this step is fully funded and gives you a roadmap for cutting costs and unlocking grant eligibility. From there, you can move forward with solar PV, energy monitoring, or other upgrades knowing that a significant share of the cost will be covered.

Why Energy Matters Ireland?

The funding landscape can be complex, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. At Energy Matters Ireland, we help businesses identify the right schemes, connect with SEAI-approved suppliers, and manage applications to maximise grant awards. One recent client secured more than €40,000 in combined funding, reducing their project costs by over half.
